Soon Hoe Hardware Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated in 14th May 1973. It was formed by a group of friends who saw that there is a future and prospect in hardware retailing. The company started as a hardware shop at No.5, Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim, 41300 Klang Selangor Darul Ehsan, and was selling mainly tools, hardware equipments, household items, steel products and others.

Soon Hoe Hardware started off with a paid up capital of RM195,000-00, the initial paid up capital came from family members and friends of the founders. Soon Hoe Hardware was doing very well and every year the company manages to make profits. Soon Hoe Hardware continue to increase its paid up capital in order to compete more effectively with its competitors through right issues and bonus issues.

In 1993, two private limited companies Maju Syabas Industries Sdn. Bhd. and Lim Kee Mian & Sons Sdn. Bhd. have bought up the majority shares of Soon Hoe Hardware Sdn. Bhd. from all the shareholders. During that year the management of the company has decided to concentrate its business solely on steel products due to keen competition in the hardware industry and the rapid growth in the construction industry.

On Jan 1996, Soon Hoe Hardware Sdn. Bhd. and its holding company (Lim Kee Mian & Sons Sdn. Bhd.), together with Maju Syabas Industries Sdn. Bhd., incorporated Peng Kee Steel Sdn. Bhd. to venture into Stainless Steel Products under the name of Peng Kee Steel Sdn. Bhd.

On August 1996, Soon Hoe Hardware invested a piece of freehold vacant industrial land at Mukim Klang (along Kampong Jawa) for its future expansion. On October 2006, a 3 storey office cum warehouse, fully equipped with overhead crane, weighbridge and computer system was completed.

In 2013, Soon Hoe Hardware entered into agreement to sell its brand name, fixed assets, inventories and business operations to Peng Kee Steel Sdn. Bhd, whereby Fontern Holdings (M) Sdn. Bhd. took over Peng Kee Steel Sdn. Bhd. and changed its name to Soon Hoe Steel Sdn. Bhd.
